This month marks one year since Industrial Safety Inspections completed its transition into Bureau Technical Inspection Services (BTIS) within the Phenna Group. The past twelve months have been challenging and demanding, yet they have delivered a successful conclusion to a complex integration of two Statutory Inspections organisations.
The transition brought together systems, people, processes and cultures while maintaining statutory compliance across a diverse customer base. It would be disingenuous to claim the journey was perfect. There were inevitable disruptions and learning points along the way. However, the overriding priority was clear from day one: keeping customers compliant, safe and supported throughout the change. On that measure, significant progress has been made.
Speaking on the milestone, David Blanchard, Managing Director of BTIS, said:
“Bringing ISI into BTIS was always going to be a demanding exercise. The team has shown huge resilience, professionalism and commitment in getting BTIS to the position it is in now . We now have a stronger, agile more resilient inspection business, well positioned across the UK and focused on raising standards for our customers.”
From an operational and technical perspective, the past year has focused on stabilisation, alignment and rebuilding confidence. Legacy issues have been addressed, delivery models tightened and governance strengthened, all while continuing to meet statutory obligations under LOLER, PSSR, PUWER and associated schemes.
Richard Wood, Inspection Director, added:“The past year has tested everyone involved, but it has also shown what this business is capable of. Although the transition was not flawless, we have made real progress in consistency, compliance and control. Most importantly, our customers have remained protected, and that is the benchmark that matters. We are now in a far stronger position than we were twelve months ago.”
Looking ahead to 2026, the focus shifts from transition to momentum. With the integration phase largely complete, BTIS is preparing a number of operational, technical and service improvements to enhance the customer experience, strengthen assurance, and support continued growth within the Phenna Group.
Exciting updates are planned for the year ahead, building on the foundations laid during this challenging yet ultimately successful first year. The message is clear: the hard work of integration is delivering results, and BTIS enters 2026 as a more resilient, agile and forward-looking inspection business.
